HENRY ROGER
BAUMGARTNER,
better known as Roger Baumgartner
(and got aggravated if you called him Henry) died March 7, 2008 at his
home. Roger was born October 28, 1935 in Walnut, Illinois the son of
Walter and Dorothy (Plapp) Baumgartner.
He is survived by two sisters
Ilene Sperling from Fisher, Ill and Lois Dremann from Ohio, Ill; one
daughter Lori Baumgartner from Garrett, Indiana; one son Daniel
Baumgartner from Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin; step-son Larry Box of
Keytesville; three granddaughters Alicia from Ill, Amanda from Ill, and
Karilyn from New York, New York. He was preceded in death by his
parents, three sisters, a good friend Deborah Kucharski.
Roger retired from farming in
Illinois and moved to rural Keytesville in 1998. It was there he started
a small rental property business that he maintained until his death.
Roger was a quiet person. His lack of hearing made it hard for him to
socialize, most everyone that knew him liked him, but didn’t know much
about him. He collected antique tractors and published and edited an
antique tractor magazine “The Prairie Gold Rush” for ten years. Roger
had many friends from all over the United States with the same passion
of antique tractors.
Visitation was Sunday, March
9th from 3-5:00 p.m., with a Masonic Service at 5:00 p.m. at the
Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Services are 2:00 p.m., Monday,
March 10th at the Summerville Funeral Home with burial in Asbury
Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Howard County
Hospice.
