ORIE PAUL CARTER, 82 lifelong resident of Salisbury died Friday, February 1, 2008 at the Moberly Regional Medical Center. He was born March 24, 1925 in Musselfork, Missouri the son of Orie Merrill. and Mattie Gertrude (Cloyd) Carter.

Paul married Erleen Louise Frazier at the Lutheran Parsonage on October 3, 1943 and she preceded him in death on February 10, 2004.

Mr. Carter served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army receiving an honorable discharge in 1946.

Paul was an avid member of the Salisbury Immanuel Lutheran Church where he was involved with many of the church activities and he held several offices in the Lutheran’s Laymen’s League and he was a member of the Cleve Iman Memorial VFW Post 4931in Keytesville. He worked as a mechanic for J.F. Rolings and sons, Woolston Brother’s Implement and other business in Salisbury and later did mechanical work out of his home North of Salisbury.

Several nieces and nephews survive Paul. Three sisters, Ruby Lee Stephenson Hendly, preceded him in death Ellen Elizabeth Walter Porter, Dorothy Jean Shoemaker Derby and two brothers, Cloyd Earl Carter and James Jesse Carter.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 4, 2008 at 1:00p.m. at the Salisbury Immanuel Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 2 till 4:00p.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Memorials are suggested to the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
