ORVILLE EDWIN LINNEMAN, 85, of Clifton Hill passed away at his home on Saturday, February 16, 2008. He was born on October 9, 1922 in Forest Green, the 12th child of Emil and Alwina Meyer Linneman.

Orville was a Seaman First Class in the United States Navy entering the service February 2, 1944 and honorably discharged April 17, 1946. He served on the USS San Carlos and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with two bronze stars and the Philippine Liberation ribbon with two bronze stars.

On February 15, 1947, he was united in marriage to Ada Belle Brooks of Salisbury. In 1952 they moved to the farm north of Clifton Hill that they would call home for the rest of his life. The Lord blessed this union with three children: Roland, Connie and Jana.

Orville was proud of his military service and loved God and country, the church and his family. Horses and dogs were always part of his life and he was partial to “spots” having many Appaloosa horses and Dalmatian dogs through the years. He took great pride in sharing that love with his children, grandchildren and friends. He was a member of the Chariton Rangers Saddle Club and showed horses for many years in the Central Missouri and State Circuits. For 14 years Orville and Ada attended the week long trail ride at Eminence where they met and made many good friends.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, 6 brothers – Arnold, Erich, Otis, Emil, Adolph and Orin - and 2 sisters – Wilma Hartung and Erna Gesling, daughter-in-law Patty Linneman and son-in-law Donnie Miller.

He is survived by his wife and faithful dog Lapper of the home, children and spouses Rollie and Dorothy Linneman of Clifton Hill, Connie and Rick Wright of Huntsville, Jana and Pat McGuire of Fayette, grandchildren and spouses, Cassie and Lonnie Peterson of Fulton, Mandy and Stuart Harold of Huntsville, Michele & Jerimiah Johnmeyer of Higbee, Marcie Miller of Huntsville, Jason Wright of Columbia, Jill Wright of Moberly, Nathan McGuire of Fayette, Jason and Jeannie McGuire of Gilliam and Michelle Vroman; Twelve great grandchildren – Bradley Lyon, Tavian Tolson, Tanner Johnmeyer, Louie Johnmeyer, Dallas Johnmeyer, Lane Peterson, Lloyd Peterson, Dustin McGuire, Grace McGuire, Amanda Arms, Julissa Monnig, Rhiannon Monnig and great great grandson Colton Arms, one brother and spouse Vernon and Letha Linneman, sisters Amelia Imgarten and Alvina Imgarten, sister-in-law Irma Linneman, many many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family suggests memorials to the Zion Lutheran Church Building fund, Moberly, in lieu of flowers. Celebration of life visitation service is 4-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 20th at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Memorial military graveside services and inurnment is 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 21st , at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO. Military honors provided by the Missouri Military Funeral Honors Team.
