GENE ALLEN CRAVENS, 74, of Salisbury died Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. He was born April 18, 1934 in Prairie Hill, MO to William Hammack Cravens Sr. and Dorothy Naylor Cravens. Gene married Donna McCollum on June 24, 1961 in Salisbury. She survives of the home.

Gene served his country for 2 years in the Army. He then farmed for a few years and drove a truck for many years, retiring from Churchill Trucklines.

Survivors include three sons - Donald Gene, Bryan (Pete) and Tony Cravens, five grand children - Kevin, Brittany, Bryan, Caitlyn and Alyssa Cravens, one great-grandson - Collin Hurt all of Salisbury. He is also survived by one sister - Ellen Gilmore of Manhattan, KS, and one brother - William Hammack Cravens Jr. of Salisbury, three brother-in-laws and four sister-in-laws - Faye and Jim Blackwell, Wayne and Jerri McCollum, Tony and Becky McCollum and Regina Emmerich. He was proceeded in death by his parents, two brother-in-laws - Duke Gilmore and Bill Emmerich, one sister-in-law - Julie Cravens, and one nephew - Jefferey Cravens.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at The Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury with burial in the Bethany Cemetery north of Keytesville. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 3,2008.

Memorials are suggested to the Bethany Cemetery Association.
