FRANCES EUGENE "GENE" MEYER, 86, of Salisbury, died Friday, January 27, 2012 at his home. Gene was born June 23, 1925 in Forest Green, MO the son of Frank and Maude Evelyn (Johnson) Meyer. He married Margaret Sue Robb on September 6, 1946 in Armstrong, MO and she preceded him in death on September 24, 2010.

Gene was a lifelong area resident. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Gene was a lifelong farmer and worked as a sewing machine operator for American Recreation in Glasgow. He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Glasgow VFW Post #1464, and the Chariton Rangers Saddle Club.

Gene is survived by a son Mike Meyer and wife JoAnn of Salisbury, MO, a daughter Brenda Dean and husband Mike of Glasgow, MO, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and son-in-law Daryl Crowley.

Visitation is Sunday, January 29th from 2-4:00 p.m., at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Services are 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 30th at the Summerville Funeral Home with burial in Asbury Cemetery. Military honors were provided by Glasgow VFW #1464 and the Navy Military Honor’s Team. Memorial contributions may be made to the Asbury Cemetery Association or the Howard County Hospice.
