DOROTHY ALICE SCOTT, 91, formerly of Salisbury, Mo, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Life Care Center of Carrollton, MO. Dorothy was born March 19, 1920 in Chariton County near Bynumville, the daughter of Franklin Ellis and Kate (Baker) McSparren. She was married to Leo Eastin Scott on April 11, 1939 in Prairie Hill, MO and he preceded her in death on October 1, 1988.

Dorothy was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She loved people and liked to have visitors as much as possible. Often was called our news reporter. She knew more about us than we did ourselves. She will be greatly missed.

Dorothy is survived by two sons Lewis Porter (Betty) of Salisbury, Tommie Scott (Shirley) of Excelsior Springs, MO, three daughters Shirley Harrelson (Melvin) of Olathe, KS, Carolyn Stanfield (Larry) of Salisbury, Sheryl Acton (Raymond) of Bosworth, MO, a daughter-in-law Carolyn Payne Scott of Marceline, twenty grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren , and great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Bobby Wayne “Pug” Scott, daughters Doris Pope, infant Connie Sue Scott, brother, Frank E. McSparren, sisters , Frances Turpin, Ruth Case, Velma Still, and a great granddaughter Allyson Shroyer.

Visitation is Friday, January 27th from Noon until 1:30 p.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury with services following at 1:30 at the funeral home with burial in Prairie Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Prairie Hill Cemetery Association.
