AMOS "A.C." CAMP McCLAIN, 90, of Independence, formerly of Salisbury, MO died October 15th at Indian Creek Nursing Home in Overland Park, KS. Amos was born November 14, 1920 in Lowell, Kentucky the son of William Samuel and Lula (Camp) McClain. He married Edith Brewer on September 20, 1947 in Marburg, Germany and she preceded him in death on March 20, 1989.

Amos served our country in the US Army during WWII and was park of the Normandy Beach invasion. He was a welder and was certified in seven states. Amos attended the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salisbury and was a member of the St. Jude Catholic Church in Oak Grove.

Son’s Jim McClain of Independence, Mike McClain of Independence and Jon McClain of Grain Valley, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews survive Amos. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and son’s Sam and Bob McClain.

Visitation is Monday, October 17, 2011 from 9-10:30 a.m., with services following at 10:30 a.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury, with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Salisbury. The Cleve Iman VFW 4296 and the American Legion Post 391 provide military graveside services.
