VIRGINIA GRISWOLD, 88, of Salisbury, died Monday evening at the Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield. She was born May 13, 1921, in Marceline, MO, the daughter of Don and Beatrice (Cupp) Santus. She married Charles Eldridge Griswold on May 19, 1942, in Palmyra, MO, and he preceded her in death on January 20, 1988.

Virginia attended Central Methodist College in Fayette. She worked as a bank teller for Salisbury Savings Bank and Merchants & Farmers Bank for many years. Virginia was a member of the First Baptist Church in Salisbury, P.E.O. Chapter BD, and the Eastern Star.

Virginia is survived by three daughters Diane Gebhardt and husband Harold of Edwardsville, IL, Denise Littleton and Junior. of Keytesville, MO, Allison Aholt and husband Wayne of Enid, OK; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and a nephew Marvin “Bunky” Wright of Columbia. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Visitation is Wednesday, November 11th from 4-7:00 p.m., at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Services are 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 12th at the First Baptist Church in Salisbury with burial in Salisbury City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church in Salisbury.
