ORVILLE BENTON MOTT,
90 of Salisbury, died Sunday,
January 25, 2009 at the Chariton Park Health Care Center in Salisbury.
He was born September 11, 1918 in rural Salisbury the son of James
Benton and Eugenia Maude (Ford) Mott.
Orville graduated from
Salisbury High School Class of 1935. He attended Northeast Missouri
State Teacher’s College in Kirksville for one year; he graduated with
Honor’s from the University of Missouri with a degree in Electrical
Engineering. Following graduating from college he served in the U.S.
Army during WWII and was honorably discharged as a rank of captain.
Orville worked for
Westinghouse Engineering Company in Pittsburgh and Baltimore for many
years and then went on to teach college in Arizona.
Mr. Mott was a member of a
Masonic Lodge in Baltimore and he had been attending the Salisbury First
Christian Church.
Orville married Shirley Johnstone on _________________ in East Orange,
New Jersey.
Survivors include his wife of
Baltimore, Md; one brother and sister-in-law; Billy Jeff and Janette
Mott of Salisbury.
Memorial services will be held
Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury.
Burial of cremains at later date in the Salisbury City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Salisbury City Cemetery Assn.
