ERCEL LEO STANLEY, 84, of Salisbury, MO died April 10, 2009 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. Ercel was born February 12, 1925 in Mendon, Missouri the son of George L. and Bertha Fern (Hobbs) Stanley. He married Dorothy Richardson on November 12, 1949 in Salisbury, MO.

Ercel was a graduate of Prairie Hill High School class of 1943. Ercel was a truck driver for Widmer Oil for 35 years, and raised cattle for 20 years. He was a former member of the Salisbury American Legion Post #391.

Ercel is survived by his wife of 59 years Dorothy of the home; a daughter Kay Buffington and husband Tom of Salisbury; daughter-in-law Jaleta Stanley of Salisbury; brother Ed Stanley of Salisbury; two sisters Dorothy Hammons and Mary Lou Marek both of Salisbury; two grandchildren Jennifer Stanley and Brian Buffington; a special cousin Janetta Burdick of Springfield, IL; several nieces and nephews. Preceding Ercel in death was his son Michael Stanley on March 15, 2003; two brothers Herb Stanley and Bob Stanley; and his parents.

Visitation is 9-11:00 a.m., Monday, April 13, 2009 with services following at 11:00 a.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Burial in Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Salisbury, with Military graveside services provided by the Salisbury American Legion Post #391 and the Cleve Iman VFW Post #4926. Memorial contributions may be made to the Asbury Cemetery Association.
