CHARLES RAY CARTER,
75, of Salisbury died Monday,
November 23, 2009 at his home. He was born August 1, 1934 in Paris,
Missouri the son of Robert Ray and Josephine (Kelley) Carter.
Charles married Shirley Forbis
on November 15, 1953 in Paris and she survives of the home.
Mr. Carter was co-owner and
operator of Carter Transmission in Salisbury for 20 years retiring on
December 31, 1999. Prior to operating Carter Transmission he worked as a
mechanic for Gene Bowyer in Keytesville and before that the Salisbury
Chevrolet dealership from 1961 to 1977. Charlie was a member of the
Salisbury First Baptist Church and a Charter member of the Salisbury
Golf Course.
Survivors include his wife of
56 years, Shirley of the home, two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard
“Duck” and Ann Carter of Salisbury, Dwain “Quack” and Leslie Carter of
Waynesville, Mo; one brother Gene (Sandy) Carter of Holiday, Mo. two
sisters, Mary Ragsdale of Moberly and Ruthie Mitchell of Paris,
sister-in-law, Dorothy Carter of Madison, five grandchildren, Allen,
Aaron, Brett, Jessica and Wendy, seven great grandchildren and several
nieces and nephews. His parents, brother Jack Carter and a sister, Betty
Umsttadd, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held
Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 11:00a.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home
in Salisbury with burial in Eastlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in
Salisbury. Visitation will be Friday evening from 4 till 8:00p.m. at the
funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials go the
Salisbury Golf Course.
