LlOYD JOSEPH SCHMIT, 79, of Salisbury died October 3, 2008 at Moberly Regional Medical Center. Lloyd was born April 13, 1929 in Watauga, South Dakota the son of Joseph and Orpha (Staundaraus) Schmit. He married Rosemary Collins on January 2, 1951 in Monti, Iowa.

Mr. Schmit has lived in Salisbury since 1990, prior living in Huntsville from 1972-1990 coming from Iowa. He was a farmer and over the road truck driver. Lloyd was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salisbury.

Lloyd is survived by his wife Rosemary of the home; four sons Joseph Schmit and wife Dolores of Indianapolis, IN, Ted Schmit and wife Peggy of Moberly, Dale Schmit and fiancé Dawn Schachtele of Higbee, MO, Darrell Schmit and wife Judy of Clifton Hill, MO; five daughters Theresa Harlan and husband Wayne of Moberly, Judy Shoults of Springfield, MO, Rita Ricks and husband Edwin of Reno, NV, Leanna Dalton and husband Jeff of Beaver Creek,, OH, Melanie Schmit of Winthrop, IA; two brothers Robert Schmit of North Pole, AL, Leo Schmit of Winthrop, IA; four sisters LuCean Fangman of Masonville, IA, Lorrraine Schmit of Carmel, CA, J-Neane Coffman of Clifton, VA, Janett Lammers of Esterville, IA; twenty two grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Ashley Schmit.

Visitation is Tuedsay, October 7th from 5-8:00 p.m. with a 7:30 rosary at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Mass of Christian Burial is Wednesday, October 8th at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salisbury. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph School Foundation.
