John W. Buffington, 91 of Prairie Hill, Missouri died Saturday, August 9, 2008 at the Boone Hospital in Columbia following a short illness. He was born February 28, 1917 in Hamden, Missouri the son of Thomas Barton and Alletta E. (Richards) Buffington.
John married Hester McAdams on July 27, 1940 in Huntsville, Missouri and she preceded him in death on July 25, 2003.
Mr. Buffington graduated from Bynumville High School, Class of 1935. He served his country in the U.S. Army/Air Force during WWII.
He was a lifelong farmer, staying active in farming up until the last month of his life when he fell and fractured his hip.

Four sons and their wives, Larry and Elaine Buffington, Salisbury, Bill and Karen Buffington of Richmond, Mo; Tom and Kay Buffington, Salisbury, Paul and Karla Buffington, Salisbury, one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Raymond McNeall of Keytesville, 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews survive John.  His parents, wife, brothers and sisters and a granddaughter, Lori Byrd, preceded him in death.

Visitation will Tuesday morning 10:00 till 11:00a.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury, with graveside services at 11:30a.m. at the Prairie Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions in his memory are suggested to the Prairie Hill Cemetery Association.
