DONALD R. GESLING, 75, of Huntsville, died June 20, 2008 at Moberly Regional Medical Center. Donald was born September 19, 1932 in Salisbury, MO the son of Richard and Erna (Linneman) Gesling. He married Verna Lea Bertsch on July 19, 1952 in Kansas City, MO, and she preceded him in death on May 16, 2007.

Donald was a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of Salisbury High School. Donald and his father Richard Gesling owned and operated Gesling Produce in Salisbury until 1997. Donald was an accomplished piano, saxophone and clarinet musician who loved jazz. He also loved rodeo and competed in calf roping for many years.

Donald is survived by a son Randy Gesling and wife Marilyn of Burlington, Ks; two daughters Jerre Hall and husband Dr. John Hall of Cape Girardeau, MO, Robin Haenchen and husband Klaus of Montclair, New Jersey; sister Carol Harmon of Mounds, OK; four grandchildren J.P. Hall and wife Cari of Columbia, MO, Juliainn Hall Sechrest and husband James of Cape Girardeau, MO, Justin Gesling and wife Sarah of St. Joseph, MO, Megan Gesling of Overland Park, KS; two great grandchildren Landon Hall of Cape Girardeau, MO, John Paul (Jack) Hall III of Columbia, MO. Preceding him is death was his parents, wife Verna, and brother Marion Gesling.

Visitation is Monday, June 23rd from Noon to 2:30 p.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury, with services following at 2:30 p.m. Burial is Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Salisbury. Memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri River Hospice in Columbia.

The children of Donald and Verna Gesling wish to express their sincere appreciation for all in the community who helped and shared in the lives of their parents.
