ROBERT CORNELL THORPE, 59, of Huntsville, MO died May 11, 2008. Robert was born July 15, 1948 in Moberly, MO the son of Richard Oakley and Helyn Lorraine (Poindexter) Thorpe. He married Beulah Thomason in San Diego, CA in 1980.

Robert is a longtime Huntsville resident. He was a graduate of the Westran High School Class of 1966. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. Robert worked as a machinist for an aircraft factory in San Diego, CA. He was a member of the AME Church in Huntsville.

Robert is survived by his wife Beulah of the home; his father Richard Thorpe of Johnston, IA; mother Helyn Thorpe of Moberly, MO; three daughters Sherry Sanders of Columbia, MO, Lorena Simpson of Moberly, MO, Cherie Thorpe of San Diego, CA; two sons Bobby Cornell Thorpe of Kansas City, MO, Maurice Thorpe of Columbia, MO; eight brothers Fred Poindexter of Chicago, IL, Ronald Thorpe of San Diego, CA, Perry Thorpe of Kansas City, MO, Jerry Thorpe, Sr. of Clark, MO, Kenneth Thorpe of Las Vegas, NV, Rory Thorpe of Kansas City, MO, Darrell Thorpe of Moberly, MO, Kelly Thorpe of Fulton, MO; three sisters Theresa Dean of Kansas City, MO, L-Tanya Thorpe of San Diego, CA, Penny Thorpe of Texas; three half sisters Charlene Robinson of Columbia, Avonna Arthur of Kansas City, MO, Alicia Thorpe of Stockbridge, GA; two half brothers Larry Davis of Des Moines, IA, Michael Robinson of Louisville, KY; twelve grandchildren; one great grandson and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation is 5-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 14th at the Patton Funeral Home in Huntsville. Military graveside services are Thursday, May 15th at 11:00 a.m. at the Huntsville City Cemetery with the Rev. Doris Redding officiating, and the Missouri Military Honor’s Team providing the military services. Memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society. Patton Funeral home entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
