GERTRUDE (TRUDY) SEARS, 94 of Huntsville, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at the Moberly Nursing and Rehab facility.  She had lived in Hunstville for 65 years. 

Mrs Sears was born August 19, 1913 in Coweta, OK, the daughter of Aubrey L and Vera Williams Carr.  She graduated from Grandview High School in 1931 and Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg in 1935.  While at CMSU, she was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority and was recently honored as a 75 year member.

She married William (Bill) Hardy Sears in July of 1939 and he preceded her in death in March of 1970.  Trudy was a former school teacher and had been a librarian for the Little Dixie Regional Library and Westran High School.

Trudy was an active member of the Hunstville First Baptist Church having served as Church Clerk, a youth Sunday school teacher, a Bible School worker and was a member of the Mary Martha Sunday School Class.  She belonged to the Huntsville Historical Society and was a member of the EW Chapter of P.E.O.  Recently she was recognized for being a member of P.E.O. for 60 years.  She was a former "Woman of the Year" selected by the Huntsville MRS Sorority.

Survivors include two sons, William (Bill) Carr Sears of Chula Vista, CA and James (Jim) David Sears of Moberly; two daughers-in-law, Meli Kirtley Sears of Chula Vista and Cathy Powell Sears of Moberly.  Grandchildren include William Kirtley Sears and his wife Eryn Ann of Santa Clarita, CA, Erin Lee Sears of San Fancisco, CA, Keli Sears Hurst and husband, Kyle Hurst, of Olathe, KS, and David Sears of Warrensburg.  Great grand-children are Zachary and Skyler Sears of Santa Clarita.

She was preceded in death in February 2008 by her twin sister, Virginia Patton.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2008 at Patton Funeral Home in Huntsville.  A funeral service, conducted by the Rev Ron Hymer, will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at the First Baptist Church in Huntsville.  Burial will follow at the Clifton Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Gertrude Sears Living Memorial Scholarship Fund or the Huntsville First Baptist Church.
