EVERETT KENNETH
SWETNAM, 90, of Darksville,
went to be with his Savior, Sunday, March 9, 2008 at Boone Hospital
Center, Columbia, MO.
Kenneth was born February 19,
1918 near Brush Creek, Randolph County, MO, the son of Forrest Everette
and Lena Ethal Wolverton Swetnam, who preceded him in death. Kenneth
married Nettie L. Thomas Waters on March 26, 1961. She survives of the
home.
Kenneth honorably served his
country in the Aleutian Islands during World War II. Kenneth and Nettie
operated a cattle and row crop farm all or their married life. Kenneth
was active in 4-H with his children, leading a woodworking group. He
also worked for the Randolph County ASCS office and served as a board
member of the Randolph County Mutual Insurance Company. He was a
faithful and active member of the Mt. Shiloh Baptist church, serving as
a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Kenneth enjoyed being with his
family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an
adopted grandpa to many children in the community.
Kenneth is survived by three
children, Thomas W. and Ann Miles Waters of Jefferson City, MO, Marjorie
G. and Gale Switzer of Huntsville of Huntsville, and Edwin D. and Lee
Ann Howard Waters of Colstrip, Montana, 8 grandchildren, Brian M. Waters
and wife Waheeda Sulamann of Houston, Texas, Marcie Waters of Houston,
Texas, Clinton Switzer and wife Candace of Liberty, MO, Darren Switzer
and wife Renee of San Antonio, Texas, Trevor Switzer and wife jacquie of
Orlando, Florida, Stacy Waters Batie and husband Russell of Rapid City,
South Dakota, Whitney Waters Holst and husband John of Dickinson, North
Dakota and Andrew Waters of Missoula, Montana, 6 Great-Grandchidlren,
Devyn and Garrett Switzer of Liberty, Tristyn Switzer of Orlando,
Florida, Aiden Switzer of San Antonio, James and Kailee Holst of
Dickinson, on sister Audrey Frans of Cairo, MO, Nephews, Larry Frans of
Utah, Jerry Frans of Cairo, Mike Howe of Ballwin and Niece, Carolyn
Frans of Cairo, several great-nephews and great-nieces and a host of
relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by
two sisters Anna Margaret Howe and Carmen Swetnam, two brothers-in-law,
Carl Frans and Paul Howe.
Funeral services will be
Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at the Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church in Darksville
with the Reverends David Gottman, Russell Pulis and Greg Slinkard
officiating. Burial will be in the Darksville Cemetery. Visitation will
be Tuesday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Patton Funeral Home in
Huntsville. The family suggests memorials to the Kidney Foundation or
the Darksville Cemetery Association
