JAMES PHILLIP HESS, 83, of Moberly died Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Mo.

James was born September 13, 1928 in Marceline, Mo. the son of Albert Dalton and Charlotte Temple (Tatsch) Hess. James married Doris Thompson on May 25, 1985 in Marshall, Mo. She survives him.

James served his country in the Army Air Corp and later in the Air Force. He was a member of the Huntsville First Baptist Church. James was also a member of the Moberly Fraternal Order of Eagles and Moberly Moose Lodge. He enjoyed farming especially his horses and hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife Doris Hess of the home; two sons, James Elton Hess and wife Linda of Centralia, Mo. and Norville Eugene Hess of Moberly, Mo.; one daughter Kathy Elaine Hess Stocke and husband Harley of Fulton, Mo.; one stepson, Roy E. Jennings of Moberly, Mo.; three sisters Leona Frances Moser, Elsie Ione Clavin and Viola Ruth Schondorf; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hess was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Phyllis Yvonne Hess and two sisters, Kathryn Schmitt and Mary Alice Chapman.

Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, June 4, 2012 at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville. Visitation will be held 9:30 to 10:30 AM Monday at Patton Funeral Home in Huntsville. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association
