DONALD "DONNIE" DEAN THOMAS, 83, of Huntsville died Monday, July 23, 2012 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO.

Donnie was born June 29, 1929 in Huntsville, MO the son of Arnold and Sarah (Burton) Thomas. He married Lyda Sue Fullington on May 6, 1978 in Moberly, MO. She survives him.

Mr. Thomas was a member of the First Baptist Church in Huntsville. He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Donnie worked for 26 years as a Heavy Equipment operator for Peabody Coal Company and AECI. Donnie also enjoyed farming, raising cattle, row crops and raising catfish in his ponds. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Lyda Sue Thomas of Huntsville, MO; one daughter Maureen Gaydos and husband Joe of San Antonio, TX; two grandchildren, Lauren Gaydos and Brendon Gaydos both of San Antonio, TX; one brother, Norman Thomas of Huntsville, MO; two sisters, Nettie Swetnam of Huntsville, MO and Betty Vanderbeck and husband Bob of Monroe City, MO: two sister-in-laws Dorothy Thomas and Louida Thomas both of Huntsville, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, J.G. Thomas and Jr. Thomas.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, July 27, 2012 at Patton Funeral Home in Huntsville. Burial with full military honors will be in the Huntsville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home.
