ARTHUR LEO HOWARD,
86 of Huntsville formerly of
rural Thomas Hill area, died Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Moberly Regional
Medical Center. He was born September 23, 1925 in Moberly the son of
Arthur L. and Goldie (Barger) Howard.
Leo graduated from the
Huntsville High School class of 1943. He then served in the U.S. Navy
during WWII and received and honorable discharge in 1946.
Leo married Doris Bell on May
9, 1948 in Huntsville and she survives of the home.
Leo worked for the Peabody
Coal Co. and A.E.C.I. for many years as a heavy equipment operator
retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Huntsville First Baptist Church
and the Moberly American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of
the home, son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Brenda Howard of Bevier,
daughter and son-in-law, Lee Ann and Eddie Waters of Coldstrip, MT,
sister, Lois Lyon (Frank, Jr.) of Huntsville, four grandchildren, Stacy
Batie (Rusty) of Coldstrip, Mt, Whitney Holst (John) of Spearfish, S.D.,
Andy Waters (Meghan) of Kellogg, ID, Peter Howard of Huntsville, five
great grandchildren, two nephews, Frank Lelin Lyon of Texas, David Scott
Lyon of Illinois and one niece, Sara Beth Lyon of Columbia, MO. He was
preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Leah Dian at infancy and a
granddaughter, Cristy Howard at infancy.
Funeral services will be held
Monday, July 30, 2012 at 11:00a.m. at the Patton Funeral Home in
Huntsville with burial with full Military Honors in the Huntsville City
Cemetery. Visitation is Monday from 9:00a.m. till service time at the
funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the
Huntsville First Baptist Church, Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church or the
Missouri Baptist Children’s Home
