JOHN "JAY" WASHINGTON LUNSFORD, 96 of rural Salisbury, died Sunday, July 31, 2011 at his daughter Barbara’s home in Salisbury. He was born June 17, 1915 in Keytesville, Mo. the son of James Harvey and Flora Edna (Caldwell) Lunsford.

Jay married Cleona Elna Baker on January 28, 1938 in Huntsville, Mo. and she preceded him in death on December 27, 2008.

Jay was a Master Machinist and Research Engineer for Orscheln’s Brake and Lever Company for 44 ½ years retiring in 1991. He was an ordain deacon and member of the Huntsville First Baptist Church and a former member of the I.O.O.F. in Salisbury.

Jay is survived by his four children: Jeannine Myers of Anna, Illinois, Janelle and Joseph Lehmann of Grain Valley, John and Brenda Lunsford of Huntsville, and Barbara and Lonnie Bartholomew of Salisbury, MO, eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, a sister Charlotte Thornton of Sylmar, CA, and sister-in-law Estalene Lunsford of Mexico, MO, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers Harvey and James Lunsford.

Visitation is 9-11:00 a.m., Friday, August 5th , at the Huntsville First Baptist Church with services following at 11:00 a.m. at the Church. Burial in Huntsville City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Charity of Donor’s Choice or the Huntsville First Baptist Church. Arrangements entrusted to Patton Funeral Home in Huntsville.
