DONALD JOSEPH "DJ" SMITH, 79, of Huntsville died Monday September 21, 2009 at his home. Funeral Service will be held 12:30 PM Friday, September 25, 2009 at Patton Funeral Home in Huntsville. Burial with full military honors will be in the Huntsville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 7:30 PM.

Donald was born February 13, 1930 in Peoria, IL the son of Clarence Harvey and Allene Catherine (Tewell) Smith. He was married to Margaret Polson Tucker on February 14, 1966 in Moberly, Mo. She preceded him in death in August 16, 1997.

Survivors include two sons; Steven W. Smith and wife Sally of Huntsville and Gary M. Smith and wife Robin of Clifton Hill; one step-son; Larry Tucker and wife Marty of Rowlett, TX; four grandchildren; Shanna Smith and Leeann Cravens both of Columbia, Patrick Smith of Kansas City and Erica Trusty of Excello; four step grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; two nieces Lori and Brian Lewis and Lari and David Sartain all of Renick; and several other nieces and nephews.

Mr. Smith attended the Huntsville United Methodist Church. DJ served his country in the Army during the Korean War. Donald was a retired Engineer from Norfolk and Western Railroad. He was a long time member of the Huntsville Lions Club, life member and past commander of VFW 6276 in Centralia, life member and past master of Masonic Lodge #30 of Huntsville, past Worthy Patron of Eastern Star of Huntsville, member of Ararat Shrine in Kansas City and member of the Coon Creek Shrine. DJ enjoyed working with cars and tractors. He also was a very active auction attendee around the state. Memorials can be made to the St.
Louis Shriners Hospital for Children.
