LOWELL L. RIEDEL, 93 of Huntsville, MO died February 24, 2008 at University Hospital in Columbia, MO. Lowell was born January 26, 1915 in Lancaster, MO the son of Charles T. and Mary (Everly) Riedel.

Lowell grew up in Lancaster and graduated from Lancaster High School in 1933. Lowell served in the U.S. Army during WWII, being honored with a purple heart, EAME Ribbon, Bronze Service Star, and an honorable discharge in 1945. In 1946 he married Reta Holfen and to this union two children were born. In 1958 Lowell moved to the Huntsville area. Lowell was a farmer and a custodian for the Randolph County Courthouse, retiring in the late 90’s. Charles married Helen Aurig Welch on October 26, 1974 in Ashland, MO and she preceded him in death in 1981. He was a member of the Fort Henry United Methodist Church, attended the Huntsville United Methodist Church, also a member of the National Farmers Organization, Huntsville VFW Post and American Legion Bazan Bailey Post 6 of Moberly.

Lowell is survived by two daughters; Joyce Perrin of Blue Springs, MO, Sharon Jackson and husband Donald of Huntsville, MO; a step son Eugene Welch and wife of Mary Ann of Macon, MO; a sister-in-law Mary Riedel of LaGrange Park, IL; eight grandchildren, five step grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. His parents, wife, brothers Walter Riedel and Marcel Riedel; two sisters Doris Van Sickel and Dorothy Eason; step son Bob Welch; and great granddaughter Brianna McAlpine preceded him in death.

Visitation is 6-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 26, at the Patton Funeral Home in Huntsville, MO. Services are 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 27th at the Patton Funeral Home with burial in McCurry-Fairview Cemetery north of Salisbury. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society.
