Lawrence John Weber, 87 of rural Salisbury, died Monday, December 31, 2007 at the Beverly Living Center in Glasgow. He was born January 20, 1920 in Case, Missouri the son of John and Lucy (Monnig) Weber.

Lawrence lived in the Forest Green area during his youth attending the Aholt School for 8 years.

On. December 27, 1951 he married Virginia “Jenny” Roling at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salisbury. Lawrence and Jenny lived in the Forest Green area until 1960 when they moved to Salisbury where they have resided for the past 47 years.

Lawrence was a farmer and carpenter, he and Jenny also operated the Trading Post at the junction of Hwy 24 and 5 for a couple years. Lawrence was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and a former member of the Glasgow Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed farming, carpentry work, gardening, traveling and camping out west visiting Yellowstone National Park 13 times.

Lawrence is survived by his wife of 56 years Jenny of the home, son, Marion Weber of Glasgow, three daughters, Suzie Guilford and husband Terry of Keytesville, Mary Frances Hodson of Columbia and Andrea Smith and her husband Troy of Dallas, Tx: six grandchildren, one sister, Stella Thies Laske of Springfield, Mo and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Leo Weber, and four sisters, Josephine Himmelberg, Imelda Westhoff, Frances Weber and Evelyn Laske.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 10:30a.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Salisbury. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9 till servicestime. Memorials are suggested to the Howard County Hospice.

Marvin Levy Hughes, 80, of Dalton, Missouri passed away December 18, 2007 at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia. Marvin was born May 3, 1921 in Dalton, MO the son of Lucilious and Laverda (Blackwell) Hughes. He married Easter Leadbetter on October 4, 1950 and she preceded him in death on December 15, 1995. On June 21, 1997 he married Sue L Adams, and she survives of the home.

Marvin grew up and lived in Dalton, except for years he spent serving in the military. He entered the U.S. Army July 1964 serving in Vietnam and the Korean Conflict. Marvin retired as a Staff Sgt after 23 years service with the U.S. Army with an Honorable Discharge in July 1973. He was a member of the Dalton First Baptist Church, Dalton Masonic Lodge, and Allah Shrine Temple # 6 in Kansas City, MO.

Marvin is survived by his wife Sue of the home; a daughter Diane Hawkins of Gilbert, AZ; two brothers Donald Hughes of Dalton, MO and Maurice Hughes of Kansas City, MO; a sister Madelyn Payne of Columbia; two grandchildren; host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Easter; brother Roland Hughes; and sister Thelma.

Visitation is 3-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 23rd at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury, with funeral services following at 4:00 p.m. Sunday. Burial with Military graveside services are Monday, December 24th at 10:00 a.m. at the Dalton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dalton Cemetery Association or the Dalton First Baptist Church.

Margaret Dodge, 103, of Forest Green died December 16, 2007 at Beverly Living Center in Glasgow, MO.

Margaret Ann Cross was born March 11, 1904 near Roanoke, the daughter of Yeaman and Lizzie Hunker Cross. She married Robert Dodge on June 15, 1929 in Moberly at the home of Reverend F. M. Baker.  Mr Dodge preceded her in death on November 28, 1977.

She attended Kirksville State Teachers College and taught at Butner School in Chariton County, Fort Henry School in Randolph County and Bawker School in Howard County.  She was a long-time member of Chariton Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, served as church treasurer, was active in Woman's Missionary Society and worked with youth.  She served in several associational WMU offices in Mz Zion Baptist Association.  She was a 71 year member of Lively Workers Club and belonged to the Chariton County Historical Society.  She was a former member of the Armstrong Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, Forest Green Community Club and Forest Green School Reunion Association, Bawker School Reunion Association, Chariton County Extension Council, and a 4-H leader.  She served for several terms as Democratic Committee woman from Chariton township and had been a member of the Chariton County Democratic Women.  Mrs Dodge was a member of the 10 squared Talking-Book Club for people over 100 who were part of the Wolfner Library program for the blind and physically handicapped.

Survivors include one daughter, Jo Ann and husband Ron Thomas of Forest Green; three grandchildren, Shari and husband Gregg Barron, David and wife Bonnie Thomas of Salisbury and Denise and husband Dan Morrissey of Des Peres; nine great grandchildren, Whitney and husband Nick Kertz of Huntsville, Melanie and husband Michael West, Jody Barron, Kevin, Kristy and Julie Thomas of Salisbury, and Shannon, Shane and Jimmy Morrissey of Des Peres.  She is also survived by cousins and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step mother, Madie Cross, husband, one son, John Robert who died in infancy, three brothers, Albert Y, John Lowry and Martin L. Cross, and a step sister, Mary Ellen Hyde.

Visitation is 6 - 8:00 pm, Wednesday, December 19, at the Summerville Funeral Home.  Services are 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 20 at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury with Rev Nathan Argent officiating, assisted by Rev Jim Bolin of Macon.  Music will be by Marva Davis and Whitney Kertz. Burial will be in the Forest Green Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Forest Green Cemetery Association.

Albertine Mann, 95, of Columbia, formerly of Dalton died December 15, 2007 at South Hampton Place in Columbia. Albertine was born June 1, 1912 in Dalton, MO the daughter of William Ellis and Bertie (Bruce) Allen. She married Kirtley Mann and he preceded her in death.

Albertine was a lifelong area resident. She worked in homecare, for Sam Johnson’s mother in Brunswick, and taught at Keytesville Head Start. She was a member of the Dalton Second Baptist Church.

Albertine is survived by her granddaughter Vertina Wright and husband Steve of Columbia, MO; a great grandson Drevon Makaia Wright of Columbia; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Vesta Van Poindexter on February 23, 2005, and sixteen brothers and sisters.

Visitation is 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 19th, at the Dalton Second Baptist Church with services following at 10:30 a.m., at the church. Burial in the Dalton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dalton Second Baptist Church.

Mary Dean Rice Milberger, 86 of Moberly died Sunday, November 18, 2007 at the Skilled Nursing Unit at Moberly Regional Medical Center. She was born March 18, 1921 in Keytesville, Missouri the daughter of William Strother and Carrie Ann (Maddox) Richardson.

Mary graduated from Salisbury High School Class of 1940.

She married Thomas Albert Rice on June 10, 1940 in Salisbury and he preceded her in death in 1946, she later married Louis Milberger on June 20, 1978 in Reno, Nv. and he preceded her in death March 29, 1984.

Mary was a telephone operator for many companies in the Kansas City area and lastly she worked for Coldwell Bankers in San Francisco, Ca. before moving back to this area in 2000.

A sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Ercel Stanley of Salisbury, two nephews, Howard Gebhardt of Jefferson City and Donald Gebhardt of Moberly and one niece, Kay Buffington of Salisbury, survive Mary.

Her parents, two husbands and two sisters, Lucy Laverne Gebhardt and Darlene Richardson, preceded Mary in death.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at 1:00p.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury, burial in Asbury Cemetery south of Keytesville. No Visitation. Memorials are suggested to the Asbury Cemetery Assn. or the Am. Heart Assn.

Lawrence “Larry” Vernon Milhollin, 93 of Salisbury, died November 9, 2007 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO. Lawrence was born June 24, 1914 in Madison, MO the son of Teddie Piper and Maggie Oletha (Bennett) Milhollin. He married Erlene H. Nanneman on November 29, 1980 in Moberly, MO.

Larry was a retired farmer and carpenter. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salisbury, and the Moose Lodge in Moberly.

Larry is survived by his wife Erlene of the home; a son Lavern Milhollin and wife Cheryln of Excello, MO; two daughters Joyce Woods of Clark, MO, Wanda Jones and husband Bill of Huntsville, MO; four step-daughters Barbara Nichols and husband Allen of Spencer, West Virginia, Ida Leutung and husband Dennis of Glasgow, Ina Fuemmeler and husband Bernard of Glasgow, Sharon Hartmann and husband Lawrence of Salisbury; a sister Imogene Dean of Centralia, MO; five grandchildren; twelve step-grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; nineteen step-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Peggy Owen; a son-in-law Keith Woods; a brother Lucian Milhollin; a granddaughter Tonya Owen; step- granddaughter Sherry Hartmann; and step-grandson Larry Hartmann.

Visitation is Sunday, November 11th from 5-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Mass of Christian Burial is Monday, November 12th at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Marguerite Nell Freeman, 91, of Salisbury died November 8, 2007 at Moberly Regional Medical Center. Marguerite Nell was born December 31, 1915 in Salisbury, MO the daughter of Jess Lee and Maggie (Folkes) Frazier. She married Dolan Merle Garner in December 1934 in Salisbury, MO and he preceded her in death in 1970. In March 1972 she married Ray Freeman and he preceded her in death in 1983.

Marguerite was a lifelong area resident. She worked as a machine operator for the Biltwell Clothing Factory. Marguerite was a member of the Salisbury Christian Church, a charter member of Key of Friendship Chapter, ABWA, Royal Neighbors, and former member of the Rebecca Lodge.

A granddaughter Rebecca Ann Garner Wright of Liberty, MO; a great granddaughter Katherine Elizabeth Wright; and three nephews Troy Hurley, Lennie Hurley, and Jerry Golf survive marguerite. Marguerite was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, a son Donald Lee Garner on August 14, 2000; three sisters Lou Etta Moffett, Pearl Verjene Hurley; and Jessie Norene Golf.

Visitation is Monday, November 12th from 1-2:00 p.m. with memorial services following at 2:00 p.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Inurnment at Memorial Park Cemetery in Moberly. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association..

Pearl Cordelia Sullivan, 100, of Salisbury passed away November 7, 2007 at Chariton Park Health Care Center in Salisbury. She was born June 16, 1907 near Prairie Hill, Missouri the daughter of Charles and Nellie (Scott) Folkes.

She married William F. Sullivan on December 2, 1925 at Bynumville, Missouri, and he preceded her in death on March 30, 1978. They were parents of eight children.

Pearl was a member of the Prairie Hill Baptist Church, and a homemaker, and area resident most of her life.

Pearl is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Millie Sullivan of Roach, MO; Richard and Donna Sullivan of Belton, MO; five daughters and four sons-in-law Anna and Paul Twyman of Clifton Hill, MO; Betty and Al Black of Prineville, Oregon; Erma and Vern Nanneman of Marceline, MO; Wanda Morrison of Salisbury; and Patricia and Bart Foreman of Linn Creek, MO; seventeen grandchildren: thirty-two great grandchildren; thirteen great great grandchildren; and three nieces. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, one son Bill Warren Sulllivan; one grandson Patrick Nanneman; two great grandsons John M. Sullivan and infant David J. Fuemmeler; also three sisters and one brother.

Visitation is 10- 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 10th with services following at 11:00 at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Burial in Prairie Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Prairie Hill Cemetery Association or the Prairie Valley Cemetery Association.

Mary Virginia Edwards, 92, a lifelong resident of Keytesville, Missouri, passed away November 4, 2007 at University Hospital in Columbia. Mary Virginia was born October 15, 1915 in Keytesville, MO the daughter of Charles H. and Delca (Allega) Hayes. She graduated from Keytesville High School in 1933, and in 1934 was married to W.D. Richards, Jr. He preceded her in death in 1960. In 1976, she married Glenn Edwards who died in 1992.

Mary Virginia was an active member of the Keytesville United Methodist Church, Keytesville UMW, Almeria Miller Club and the Friends of Keytesville. In earlier years she was active in the Jordan Homemakers and ABC Bridge Club.

Mary V’s greatest Joy was her family and her home. She loved cooking, sewing, and quilting for her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

Preceding her in death was her father, Charles H. Hayes; mother Delca Allega) Hayes; brother, William H. Hayes and her husbands.

Her survivors include brother, Charles D. Hayes and wife Louise; son, W.D. Richards and daughter-in-law Cecilia, all of Keytesville; daughter, Mary Richards Oliver, Fort Worth, Texas; step-son, Lee Edwards, Oak Grove, Missouri; four grandsons, three great grandsons and four great grand-daughters.

Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 7th at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 8th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Keytesville United Methodist Church, followed by burial in Keytesville City Cemetery. The family suggests memorial to Keytesville United Methodist Church or Keytesville City Cemetery.

Lorene Marie Gebhardt, 87, of Keytesville, MO died October 22, 2007 at Moberly Regional Medical Center. Lorene was born December 23, 1919 in Forest Green, MO the daughter of Tony and Marie (Linneman) Biere. She married Eldan R. Gebhardt on August 7, 1943 at the Salem Lutheran Church, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 2002.

Lorene was a lifelong area resident. She was a homemaker, a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Forest Green, a member of the LWML- Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and the Salem Lady Quilters. Lorene enjoyed gardening and sewing.

Lorene is survived by a son Eldan E. Gebhardt and wife Caron of Salisbury; a daughter Mary Pilkenton and husband Roger of Columbia; a brother Paul Biere and wife Dorothy of Salisbury; two sisters Vera Wirth of Ill, Edith Riddle of Kirksville, MO; two grandsons Matthew Gebhardt and wife Lisa of Broken Arrow, OK, Caleb Gebhardt of Mexico, MO; a granddaughter Emily Gebhardt of New Orleans, LA; and great granddaughter Ruth Anne Gebhardt; several nieces and nephews. Her husband, parents, two sisters Margaret Scheiderer and Eileen Manson, preceded her in death.

Visitation is 10-11: 00 a.m., Monday, October 29th at the Salem Lutheran Church with services following at 11:00 a.m. Burial in Salem Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial may be made to the Salem Lutheran Church.

Amy Pearl Brandt, 91, oldest of five children born to Bartley (B.L.) LeGrand and Odell Elizabeth (Smith) Wisdom, died October 21, 2007 at her home. She was born December 30, 1915 in College Mound, Missouri. Pearl married Herman August Brandt on June 5, 1937 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Brunswick, and he preceded her in death on July 18, 1974.

Pearl overcame many hardships to attend and complete school, such as riding horses to and from school. She was a graduate of Callao High School Class of 1934. She was a homemaker and worked as a seamstress for the Biltwell Clothing Factory, retiring in 1986. Pearl was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Salisbury and a former member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Brunswick. Pearl enjoyed picking pecans, gardening, mowing her lawn and quilting.

Pearl is survived by her son Walter Brandt and wife Donna of Salisbury; three daughter’s Shirley Jean Trapp of Hudson, FL; Judith Kay Taylor and husband Billy of Adams, WI; Vallera Eloise Copple and husband Jerry of Hale, MO; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; one great great grandson; a brother-in-law Jerry Taylor of Scottsdale, AZ; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation is 5-8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 25th, at the Summerville Funeral Home. Services are 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 26th at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Salisbury with burial in Elliott Grove Cemetery in Brunswick, Missouri. Kenneth G. Friesz, 79, of Salisbury died October 18, 2007 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. Kenneth was born November 11, 1927 in Salisbury, MO the son of Roy and Emma Marie (Kothe) Friesz. He married Norma Rasmussen.

Kenneth was a graduate of Salisbury High School Class of 1945, serving as class president. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan during WWII. Kenneth was manager and truck driver for Sommer’s Potato Chip Factory for 35 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Salisbury, the Salisbury American Legion Post #397, and the Moose Lodge in Moberly.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Norma of Salisbury; a son Ricky Friesz and wife Patty of Sunrise Beach, MO; a sister Rita Phillips of Minneapolis, MN; a grandson Adam Friesz of Lincoln, NE; two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death.

Visitation is Sunday, October 21, from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Services are Monday, October 22, at 10:30 a.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury with burial in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Barbara Ann Pressley, 77 of Salisbury died Friday, October 12, 2007 at the The Bluffs (Tiger Place) in Columbia where she had resided since July 2005. She was born April 2, 1930 in Mattoon, Ill. the daughter of Arthur and Frances (Nichols) Walden.

Barbara did her under graduate studies in Social Working at Monmouth College in Monmouth, Ill. and received her Master’s degree from the University of Missouri.

Barbara married Donald C. Pressley on April 9, 1955 in Mattoon, Ill. and he preceded her in death on February 23, 2005.

Mrs. Pressley was a social worker in various counties in Michigan, Illinois and Missouri. She was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church in Columbia and a former member of the Salisbury United Methodist Church. She was very active in P.E.O; Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Chariton County Child Welfare Committee and a lifetime Girl Scout where she held many offices.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law; Dr. Mark and Linda Pressley of Columbia, Mo; Dr. Kevin and Christina Pressley of Maitland, Fl; two daughters and sons-in-law; Marta and Don Fuemmeler of Glasgow and Karen and Shawn Sutterer of Rocheport, Mo; six grandchildren, Aaron Pressley, Emily Pressley, Matthew Pressley, Angela Pressley, Rhys Fuemmeler and Kyra Sutterer.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury with burial in Eastlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Salisbury. Visitation will be form 6 till 8:00p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Joe Ingram Trust Fund, Chariton Co. Child Welfare Advisory Committee or the Heart of America Girl Scouts..

Elmer Ervin Neidholdt, 85 of Joplin, Missouri died Friday, September 28, 2007 at his home. He was born November 30, 1921 in Brunswick, Missouri the son of Fredrick and Olga (Kaylor) Neidholdt.

Elmer lived in Brunswick from 1921 till 1947 when he moved to DeSota, Ks, where he resided until 1971 when he moved to Keytesville, Mo and then to Joplin in 1992.

Elmer Neidholdt married Mary Ellen Lybarger on June 19, 1942 and she resides of the home.

Elmer served his country in the U.S. Army/Air Force during WWII receiving an honorable discharge in 1945. He was a lifelong farmer retiring in 1992, was of the Baptist faith and always enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.

Mr. Neidholdt is survived his wife of 65 years Mary of the home, one son and daughter-in-law; Glendon and Carolyn Neidholdt of Joplin, one daughter and son-in-law; Gail and Jim Davis of Elkland, Mo. one sister, Margie Nickolsen of Republic, Mo; six grandsons, six great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and friends. His parents, a son, Michael Keith Neidholdt in 1987 and five brothers, George, Everett, Herb, Pete and Melvin, preceded Elmer in death.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 4 2007 at 1:00p.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury with interment in the Bethany cemetery north of Keytesville, Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6 till 8:00p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Bethany Cemetery Association.

Olive Marie Troxel, 91 of Keytesville, Missouri, died Monday, September 24, 2007 at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Mo. She was born December 9, 1916 in Jameson, Missouri the daughter of Harrison and Clara (Brown) Pearson.

Olive married Moss Troxel on September 3, 1934 in Gallatin, Missouri and he preceded her in death on May 2, 1998.

Mrs. Troxel was a Telephone operator for the Central Office in Keytesville, nurses aid at Chariton Manor in Salisbury and a cook for Keytesville Head Start and she was a member of the Keyteville Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter-in-law; Patsy Troxel of Keytesville, one brother-in-law; Tom Jones of Savannah, Mo; one sister-in-law; Joan Pearson of Lathrop, Mo; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, seven step greatgrandchildren, ten step-great, great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Leslie Troxel, one daughter, Joyce Jean Holtkamp, one brother, Delbert Pearson, and one sister, Mary Margaret Jones.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 27, 2007 at 11:00a.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home with visitation from 10:00 until service time. Burial in the Keytesville City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Keytesville City Cemetery

Helen Louise Bartholomew, 90, of Salisbury, died September 18, 2007, at her home. Helen was born September 14, 1917 in Bynumville, MO the daughter of James Richard and Mabel Irene (Snyder) Dowell. Helen married Troy Bartholomew on February 6, 1936 in Salisbury, and he preceded her in death on June 27, 1992.

Helen was a lifelong area resident. Helen was a homemaker and member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Bynumville PTA, and The Pleyer School Extension Club.

Helen is survived by a son Nick Bartholomew and wife Mary of Salisbury; three daughters Marilyn Rice of Lee’s Summit, MO, Patsy Craig and husband Dean of Blue Springs, MO, Brenda Kuhler and husband Michael of Waverly, MO; a sister Mary Niemeier of Marceline, MO; eight grandchildren Rick and Fred Rice, Melody Brooks, Breanda and Kysala Kuhler , Tori Waggner, Stewart and Natalie Edwards; six great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, son Frank at infancy; two brothers Winfred and Russell Dowell; four sisters Maude Fitzgerald, Lorene Whitaker, Donys Bartholomew, Morene Pleyer; son-in-law Charles Rice; and daughter-in-law Cheryl Bartholomew.

Visitation is 5-8:00 p.m., Friday, September 21st at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Services are Saturday, September 22nd at 10:00 a.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home with burial in Fitzgerald Cemetery in Bynumville. Dorena Elizabeth Wills, 86 of Salisbury died Monday, September 17, 2007 at her daughter’s home in Columbia, Mo. She was born August 7, 1921 in Highland Center, Iowa the daughter of Julius J. and Dora E. (Symes) Schmitt.

Dorena married Morris Wesley Wills on March 1, 1949 in Omaha, Nebraska and he preceded her in death on October 4, 2001.

Mr. And Mrs. Wills resided in Ireton, Iowa until 1965 when they moved to Keytesville, Mo; and then to Salisbury in 1984. Dorena was an office secretary for the Division of Family Services in Keytesville for 20 some years retiring in the early 80’s. She was a member of the Keytesville United Methodist Church where she was very involved with many of the churches activities and she also was a member of the Friendly Neighbors Extension Club

Dorena is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Caren and Roger Sonichsen of Alcester, S.D; Linda and Dr. Mark Pressley and Leota and Michael Maag all of Columbia, Mo; Seven grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and one great, great grandson. Her parents and one brother who died at infancy preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 21, 2007 at 2:00p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Keytesville with burial in Eastlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Salisbury. Visitation will be held from 1:00p.m. until services time at the church

James Galen Ray, 70, of Armstrong, MO died September 12, 2007 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. Galen was born October 10, 1936 in Armstrong, MO the son of James L. and Leona (Reinwald) Ray. He married Jeanette McCully on August 14, 1960 in Armstrong, MO.

Galen was a 1954 graduate of the Armstrong High School, and attended classes at Central Methodist College. He served in the United States Army. Galen was a farmer and worked for the Missouri Highway Department (District 5 Construction) out of Columbia for over 39 years, retiring September 1996. He and Jeanette had lived in the Yates area since 1960. Galen was a member of the Chariton Baptist Church and attended Roanoke Presbyterian Church. He loved hunting, fishing, all sports and trap shooting.

Galen is survived by his wife Jeanette of the home; a daughter Gail Kendrick and husband Craig of Salisbury, MO; a sister Patsy Schaefer of Fayette, MO; a brother Johnny Ray of Salisbury, MO; two grandchildren Jordan and Hayley Kendrick of Salisbury. His parents preceded him in death.

Visitation is 5-8:00 p.m., Friday, September 14, 2007 at Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Funeral Services are 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 15th at the Summerville Funeral Home with burial in Roanoke Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Roanoke Cemetery Association.

Elbert Clayton “Twink” Fidler, 74, of Salisbury, MO died September 5, 2007 at Boone Hospital Center. Clayton was born October 8, 1932 in Salisbury, MO the son of Wilbur Francis and Lucimae (Brummel) Fidler. He married Mary Jane Sullivan and she preceded him in death.

Clayton served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After being discharged from the military he lived in Sedalia, returning to Salisbury in 1980. Clayton worked as a sales and delivery person for the Holsum Bread Company for 22 years, retiring in 1980. He then worked as a truck driver for Thomas Hill Power Plant for three years and managed Rolings’ Car wash for 10 years. Clayton was a member of the Local 534 in Sedalia.

Clayton is survived by three son’s Elbert Clayton Fidler, Jr and companion Lori Bisenieks of Sedalia, Jim Fidler and wife Linda of Portland, IN, Timothy Fidler of Portland, IN; a daughter Pamela McCue of Sedalia; step-son Wayne Burton of Las Vegas; sister Nell Rucker of Overland Park, KS; eleven grandchildren; one great granddaughter; three nieces and a nephew. His parents, and a brother Bill preceded him in death.

Visitation is Friday, September 7th from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Services are 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 8th at the Summerville Funeral Home with burial in Salisbury City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lion’s Eye Bank..

Francis Dale Fleming, 78, of Brunswick, Mo. formerly of Moberly passed away on August 27, 2007, at the Moberly Regional Medical Center in Moberly.

He was born on September 26, 1928 the son of Horace Fleming and Mary Hayward Fleming on a farm near Dalton, Missouri.

He married Mary Helen Wilson at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salisbury, Missouri, on April 14,1971.

Dale served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army.

He worked in Keytesville at Shively’s Restaurant and later had a furniture refinishing business. In Chillicothe he worked at KCHI as a DJ. In Moberly her worked at Gillan’s Bakery and in food service for the Missouri Department of Corrections. In Columbia he worked for the Pinkerton Security and later for Meals on Wheels as food supervisor.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salisbury, Missouri, and St. Pius Church in Moberly.

His parents, a half sister, Carrie Veatch and a brother H.W. Fleming preceded him in death. He is survived by on sister, Mrs. Dorothy Yoder of Columbia, MO and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at 11:30 a.m., at Memorial Park Cemetery in Moberly, with Father Michael Coleman of St. Pius Church officiating. Missouri Military Honor’s Team will provide military graveside services. Services were entrusted to the Summerville Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Association.

Charlotte Ann McCubbins, 31 of Clifton Hill, Missouri formerly of Westphalia, Missouri died Sunday morning from the results of drowning at Thomas Hill Lake, Thomas Hill, Missouri. She was born June 18, 1976 in Jefferson City, Missouri the daughter of Nancy Kaiser.

Charlotte was a 1994 graduate of Fatama High School. She married Ricky McCubbins on August 7, 2002 in Sturgis, S.D. and he survives of the home.

Mrs. McCubbins was a quality control operator for APAC for the past 7 years. She was raised up in the Catholic Church, where she was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia.

Survivors include her husband, two sons, Jearmy and Jamey McCubbins of the home, mother and step-father, Nancy and Daniel “Boone” Schmitz of Westphalia; three sisters, Laura Haslag of Linn, MO; Sarah Moore of Jefferson City, Mo; Rachel Crede of Marlow, Ok; Maternal grandmother, Shirley Kaiser of Dixon, Mo; Paternal grandmother, Louise Ewers of Vienna, Mo; father-in-law, James McCubbins of Clifton Hill, Mo; and Mother-in-law; Helen McCubbins of Salisbury, Mo. two brothers-in-law; Darrell McCubbins of Fayette, Mo; Eric Haslag of Linn, Mo; four nieces and three nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 23, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury with cremation to follow. Visitation will be held 5 till 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with a 7:30 rosary. Memorials are suggested to the Charlotte McCubbins Memorial Trust for the continuing education for Jearmy and Jamey.

Charles Rice, 69, of Lee’s Summit, Mo died August 14, 2007 at Kansas City Hospice House. Charles was born November 24, 1937 in Salisbury the son of Charley Giles and Dora Mae (Smith) Rice. He married Marilyn Bartholomew on May 15, 1954 and she survives of the home.

Charles attended Salisbury High School and worked in the farming profession for a while. Charles later chose to work for Rainbow Bread Company and served as a marketing representative and supervisor for 20 years. He then went to work for the general food services industry as a marketing representative and retired from Sysco Food Services in December of 2000.

Charles enjoyed hunting, golfing and other activities but mostly enjoyed being with his family. Charles was a 32nd Degree Mason and belonged to the Scottish Rite and Ararat Shrine Temple.

Charles is survived by his wife Marilyn of 53 years; two sons Fred Rice; Rick Rice and wife Lisa; five grandchildren Adam, Carly, Whitney, Rachel, and Rebecca; three sisters Mary Sue Butler; Carol Dean Leimkuehler; and Connie Lien Lang; several nieces and nephews. His parents, Charlie and Dora Rice preceded him in death. Charles was a wonderful husband, father, and friend.

Visitation is Thursday, August 16th from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 17th at the Summerville Funeral Home with burial in Fitzgerald Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Kansas City Hospice House or to the Fitzgerald Cemetery Associaton.

Edmund F. Bindel, 90 of Port Richey, Fl; died Sunday, August 12, 2007 at the Marliere Care Center in New Port Richey, Fl. He was born August 10, 1917 in Lamar, Missouri the son of Joseph and Magdalinia (Weske) Bindel.

Edmund married Eleanor Lawrence on November 10, 1943 in the St. John’s church in Orange, New Jersey, and she preceded him in death on June 2, 1987.

Mr. Bindel was a WWII U. S. Army Veteran; he retired as a printer from the Santa Barbara, California newspaper. He was a member of the Loyal order of the Moose, American Legion, B.P.O. Elks, V.F.W. and the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include three daughters, Patricia O’Donoghue of Dudley, N.C., Maryann Heiman of Woodinville, Wa; and Susan Culley of Odessa, Fl; one brother, Harold Bindel of Wataga, Il; two half sisters, Irene Dempsey of St. Louis, Mo; Sarah Ann Silver of Turtle Creek, Pa; companion Matilda McCloskey of Port Richey, Fl; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, Albert and Herbert, one sister, Margaret Henke and a grandson, Gregory O’Donoghue, Jr.

Visitation was held, Thursday, August 16 at the North Meadowland Funeral Home in New Port Richey.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 19, 2007 from 6 till 8:00p.m. with a 7:30p.m. rosary at Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Mary Kull Windmiller, 91 of Salisbury, died Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at Moberly Regional Medical Center. She was born June 23, 1916 in Ashburn, Missouri the daughter of Jacob and Sarah (Calhoun) Kull.

Mary graduated from the Louisiana High School Class of 1934.

Mary Kull married Lafe Windmiller on April 28, 1937 at the Presbyterian Manse in Louisiana, Missouri and he preceded her in death on June 4, 1983.

Mrs. Windmiller was a lunchroom supervisor for 32 years for the Clopton School District. She was a member of the Missouri Retired School Teachers Assn; was a member of the Louisiana and Clarksville Presybyterian Church and she had been attending the Salisbury Christian Church.

Survivors include two sons, Dick Windmiller and his wife Shirley of Salisbury; Don Windmiller of Hercules, Ca; eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Marion, Alton and Jacob Kull, four sisters, Lucy Pillett, twins Ina Cox , Nina Ferriss and Lizzie Myers.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 10, 2007 at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury from 5 till 7:00p.m. with funeral services at 7:00 p.m. Graveside service will be Saturday, August 11, 2007 at 10:30 am at the Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville.

Carolyn Louise Bausch, 45 of Excello, Missouri died July 30, 2007 from the results of drowning in a farm pond at her home near Excello. She was born November 16, 1961 in McPherson, Kansas the daughter of Sam and Wanda (Brooks) Green.

Carolyn was a graduate of Salisbury High School Class of 1980. She married Ronald G. Bausch in 1982 in Salisbury and he survives of the home. Carolyn was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her husband Ron of the home, daughter Christine Mross and her husband Mike of Excello, her parents, Sam and Wanda Green of Huntsville, Missouri, two brothers, Mike Green and Greg Green of Salisbury and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday, August 3, 2007 at the Summerville Funeral Home with cremation following the service. Visitation was held Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Chariton Park Health Care Center in Salisbury.

Aubrey “Tecke” Teckemeyer, 77 lifelong resident of Forest Green, Missouri died Friday, August 3, 2007 at his home. He was born March 16, 1930 in Forest Green the son of William and Flora (Reppenhagen) Teckemeyer.

Aubrey married Margie Prewitt on June 3, 1951 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Forest Green and she survives of the home.

“Tecke” was a farmer helping on the farms of A.C. Bentley and Ron Richmond, he also was a heavy equipment operator for Barry Vasser and worked as a mechanic at Rascal Flats. “Tecke” also enjoyed fishing, hunting, stock car racing and was well known as the “Mayor of Forest Green”.

Survivors include his wife, Margie of the home, son and daughter-in-law; Wayne and Marty Teckemeyer of Jefferson City, Mo; daughter and son-in-law; Virginia and Rick Gudde of Holden, Mo; one brother, Martin Teckemeyer of Gilliam, Mo; two sisters, Mary Athleen Hutton and Kathryn Belcher both of Slater, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one great,great granddaughter, one niece and two nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 6, 2007 at 11:00 at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury with visitation from 10:00 till servicetime. Burial in Forest Green Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Forest Green Cemetery Assn or the Howard County Hospice and HomeCare.

Paul A “Butch” Dameron, 68, of Salisbury passed away Sunday, July 29th at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia MO. He was born November 4th, 1938 in Salisbury to John W. and Lillie (Morris) Dameron, who preceded him in death. Paul graduated from Dalton Vocational High School and served 4 years in the US Marine Corp. He was a truck driver for Semco Manufacturing for 10 years and retired from Churchill Truck Lines after 24 years. He also served on the Salisbury Senior Housing Board for a number of years.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Beverly (Agee) Dameron of the home, son Bradley Dameron (Lenette) of St Peters MO and daughter Stacy Dameron of Columbia MO. Sister Frances (Dameron) Bagby of Salisbury, brother Ronald “Chipper” Dameron of Miami FL. Grandchildren Anansa and Elijah Dameron of St Peters MO. Brothers-in-law, Gerald (Teresa) Agee of Wentzville MO and John Terrill of Kansas City MO, Sisters-in-law, Winnie and Judy Agee of Keytesville MO and Wilma Dameron of Salisbury as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John Richard, Donald and Merle “Cookie” Dameron, and sisters, Geraldine Terrill and Betty Dameron

Funeral Services for Mr. Dameron will be held Saturday August 4, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury with Entombment in the Eastlawn Cemetery Mausoleum with Military Honors. Jerome George Bucksath 98, died Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at the Brunswick Nursing Home. Jerome was born October 21, 1908 on a farm south of Dalton, the son of George and Pauline (Sleyster) Bucksath. He married Pearletha Guilford in Moberly Park Avenue Church in 1931.

Mr. Bucksath was a graduate of the Brunswick High School class of 1928. He was a farmer all his life, until his retirement. He held many positions and was a lay leader for 27 years for the Dalton Immanuel Methodist Church, and was district lay leader for the Marshall District. He was president of the Brunswick High School Alumni Association, and twice president of the Lions Club and many years president of the Dalton Cemetery Association. He was township chairman for the Agriculture Conservation Commission for 12 years. He was one of the original members of the Dalton Community Center.

Mr. Bucksath is survived by a son Duane and wife Diane of Homer Glen, Illinois, two grandchildren, Mark Bucksath of Libertyville, Illinois; Lisa Eckenstein and her husband John of Homer Glen, Illinois and two great grandchildren Johnny and Emma Eckenstein. He was preceded in death by his wife Pearletha, his parents and two brothers, Henry and Russell.

Funeral wervices for Mr Bucksath will be held Saturday, July 28, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury with burial in the Dalton Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 6 till 8:00p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Dalton Cemetery Association.

Martha Ann Wiley, 75 of Jackson, Mo; died Friday, July 13, 2007 at the Monticello House in Jackson.

She was born October 7, 1931 in Keytesville, Mo; the daughter of Russell Cox and Mildred Temple Cox. She married Dr. Frank Wiley on December 23, 1950.

Mrs. Wiley was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson. She was also a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Frank Wiley, of the home, two sons, Russell Wiley of Malden, Mo; and Dr. Michael Wiley of Farmington, Mo; five grandchildren and one brother Roy Cox of Brunswick, Mo.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 10:00a.m. at the Keytesville City Cemetery under direction of Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Funeral arrangements in Jackson were handled by Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home.

Edward P. “Ward” Emmerich, 93 lifelong resident of rural Salisbury, died Saturday, July 14, 2007, at the Brunswick Nursing Home. He was born Sept.10, 1913 in Salisbury the son of the late Gustav and Katherine (Poeschl) Emmerich.

Ward was a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School in Salisbury class of 1932.

Mr. Emmerivch was a lifelong ag/livestock farmer. He served his country in the U. S. Army during WII as a chauffeur and messenger; he received an honorary discharge in 1945.

He married Doris Lucille Pleyer on February 15, 1947 in the St. Mary’s of the Angel Catholic church in Wien, Missouri and she survives of the home.

Ward was a lifelong farmer raising row crop and livestock. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salisbury.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years Doris of the home, two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Debbie Emmerich of St. Louis, Mo; Lee and Michele Emmerich of Salisbury, five daughters and sons-in-law, Lucy and Don Carman of Oolagah, Ok; Becky Emmerich of Lenexa, Ks; Joyce and John Metcalf of Jacksonville, Fl; Susan and Dennis Sheets of Toledo, Oh; and Nancy and Phillip Prewitt of Salisbury, 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents, 3 brothers, Harold, Francis and Paul and two stillborn children, preceded him in death.

Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, July 16, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salisbury with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5 till 8:00p.m. with a 7:30 rosary at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Sue Ellen Burks, 59 of rural Salisbury died, Saturday, July 7, 2007 at her home. She was born August 16, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Dr. Alvin and Sylvia (Rottapel) Weiss.  Sue married Dan E. Burks on May 4, 1987 in Denver, Colorado and he survives of the home. Mrs. Burks was a graduate of Columbia College with a degree in Basic Management. She worked in the Hospitality Industry and for the past 9 years owned her own dog breeding business. Sue was a member of the Prairie Hill Christian Church, the Professional Pet Assn. and the Missouri Pet Breeders Assn.

Survivors include her husband of 20 years, Dan of the home, three sons, Adam Thomas Henderson of Las Vegas, Nv; Matthew Ross Henderson and Seth Michael Henderson both of Reno, Nv; one daughter, Li-Wen Jaroch of St. Louis, Mo; one sister, Marilyn Parlin and one brother, Ben Weiss both of Los Angelos, Ca. Eleven grandchildren and two Nephews and one niece. Her parents preceded Sue in death.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Prairie Hill Christian Church with burial o\in the Prairie Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 till 7:00P.M. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Memorials are suggested to the Prairie Hill Christian Church or American Cancer Society.

Pauline McNeall, 97, of Salisbury died Monday, May 28, 2007 at Moberly Regional Medical Center in Moberly. Pauline was born June 14, 1909 in Chariton County, MO the daughter of Charles and Mary (Davis) Eiring. She was married to William Howard and Floyd McNeall and they both preceded her in death.

Pauline was a lifelong area resident. She attended Chillicothe Business School for one year. Pauline was a telephone operator, worked for the U.S. government in various departments and owned Howard’s Gifts in Salisbury. She was a member of the Salisbury First Baptist Church, it’s R& R Club, and C & R Liners Club.

Pauline is survived by a daughter Tena Ingle and husband Tim; a granddaughter, a great granddaughter; two step-sons Bill and Dale McNeall; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands,brother’s Ben and Howard, sisters Oletha, Helen, Lucille, Ester, Mae.

Services are Wednesday, May 20, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home with burial in Prairie Valley Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church in Salisbury.

Walter “Hawk Shaw” E. Butner, Jr., 81 of Marshall, MO Sunday, died May 27, 2007 at The Living Center in Marshall, MO. Walter was born October 12, 1925 in Salisbury, MO the son of Walter and Julia E. (Fristoe) Butner, Sr. He married Opal Brown in 1951 in Salisbury, MO and she preceded him in death on March 30, 1992.

Walter was a farm laborer in Chariton County and worked for the Wabash Railroad. He served in the U.S. Army. Walter had lived in Marshall since 1978 moving from Salisbury. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing and drinking coffee.

Walter is survived by five sons Wendell Butner of Moberly, Howard Butner of Columbia, MO, Kenneth Butner of Columbia, Lyle Butner of Kansas City, MO, Ronnie Brown of Marshall; three daughters Judy Smith of Columbia, Norma Butner of Columbia, Reanice Young of Kansas City, MO; a half brother Horace Tisdale of Omaha, NE; a sister Iola Johnson of Lee’s Summitt; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two son’s Frederick and John E Butner; two brother’s J.E. Butner, Clarence Butner; two sister’s Gwen Butner and Anna Louise Whitley.

Graveside services are Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at the Eastlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Salisbury. Military graveside services are provided by the Missouri State Honor’s Team. Memorial contributions maybe made to the Walter Butner Memorial Fund in care of the Summerville Funeral Home.

Danny Schachtele, 60 of Salisbury died May 23, 2007 at his home. Danny was born December 5, 1946 in Salisbury, MO the son of Ralph E. and Marjorie H. (Alexander) Schachtele. He married Mildred Rustemeyer on July 1, 1967 in Salisbury.

Danny was a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of Salisbury High School Class of 1964. Danny was a self employed kennel operator.

Danny is survived by his wife Mildred of the home; a daughter Abigail Pegelow and husband Kevin of Keytesville; two sons John A Schachtele and wife Karen of Lexington, MO, Tony Schachtele and wife Becky of Keytesville; seven grandchildren Daniel and Dustin Pegelow, Jessica, Craig and Addison Schachtele, Levi and Garrett Schachtele; a brother John T. Schachtele and wife Denise of Salisbury, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Leonard and Marie Rustemeyer, several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is Friday, May 25th from 4-8:00 with a 7:30 Rosary at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Sena Gooch, 100, of Salisbury died May 19, 2007 at Chariton Park Health Care Center in Salisbury. Sena was born November 10, 1906 in Forest Green, Missouri the daughter of Henry and Euphrosena (Ebert) Yung. She married Roy Lelan Gooch on January 3, 1923 at the Keytesville Court House. Four children were born to this union, Elsie, William, Robert, and James.

Sena was a lifelong area resident and homemaker. She was a member of the Salisbury United Methodist Church.

Sena is survived by a daughter Elsie Payne of Merriam, KS, a son William Gooch of Lincoln, Missouri; eight grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son James, and son Robert.

Visitation is Tuesday, May 22, 2007, from 10- 11:00 a.m. with services following at 11:00 p.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury, burial in the Salisbury City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Herschel F. McCloud, 86, of Salisbury died May 18, 2007 at North Village Park Nursing Home in Moberly. Herschel was born May 31, 1920 in Bynumville, MO the son of Frank James and Josephine (Sullivan) McCloud. He married Ruth Preston on December 24, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Herschel was a life long area resident. He service in the U.S. Army as a Captain during WWII. Herschel farmed and worked for Chariton Valley Telephone Company as plant superintendent, retiring in 1974. He was a former member of the Cleve Iman VFW Post 4926 and the American Legion Post #391.

Herschel is survived by his wife Ruth of Salisbury; four sons Paul McCloud and wife Evelyn of Salisbury, Alan McCloud and wife Carol of Bosworth, Micheal McCloud and wife Debbie of Salisbury, William McCloud and wife Christy of Salisbury; two daughters RuthAnn Washam and husband James of Salisbury, Kathy Sasek and husband Stephen of Madison; fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. His parent and a son Larry J. McCloud preceded him in death.

Visitation is 11- 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 21, 2007 with services following at 1:00 p.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home. Burial in Fitzgerald Cemetery. Verna Gesling 73, of Huntsville died May 16, 2007 at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. Verna was born November 21, 1933 in Salisbury, MO the daughter of John Edward and Helen (Kressig) Bertsch. She married Don R. Gesling on July 19, 1952 in Salisbury, MO.

Mrs. Gesling was a graduate of the St. Joseph High School. She worked for Judge Richard Schamier and followed him as his secretary to the Randolph County Courthouse, and stayed with him until his retirement. Verna then became a clerk for Judge James Cooksey. She later became the probate clerk for Randolph County.

Verna is survived by her husband Don of Huntsville, MO; a son and daughter-in-law Randy and Marilyn Gesling of Burlington, KS; two daughters and sons-in-law Jerre and Dr. John Hall of Cape Girardeau, MO, Robin and Klaus Haenchen of Montclair, N.J.; four grandchildren JP Hall and wife Cari of Columbia, Juliann Hall of Cape Girardeau, MO, Justin Gesling of St. Joseph, MO, Megan Gesling of Overland Park, KS; a great grandson Landon Hall of Columbia, MO; a brother Jim Bertsch and wife Charlene of West Palm Beach, FL, four sisters Betty Gormley of Holdredge, NE, Pat Camus of West Palm Beach, FL, Jane Bertsch of Grosse Point, Michigan, and Johnnie Kay Hood and husband Doug of Franklin, TN; several nieces and nephews. Russell Schlotzhauer, 92, of Salisbury died May 16, 2007 at his home. Russell was born September 19, 1914 in Pilot Grove, Missouri, the son of Joseph and Mary Emma (Haley) Schlotzhauer. He married Nadine Rhoads on May 6, 1939 in Sedalia, MO, and she survives of the home.

Mr. Schlotzhauer was a lifelong are resident. He raised livestock and farmed all his life, and was very active in various agricultural organizations. Russell was a former member of the Wesley Chapel Church in Pilot Grove, a member of the Salisbury United Methodist Church, a 50 + member of the Masonic Lodge in Fayette, MO, and loved to hunt and fish. Russell and Nadine traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe, spending the past 25 winters in the south.

His wife Nadine, a daughter Russadine Hoffman of Salisbury, three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews survive Mr. Schlozthauer. His parents preceded him in death, a son-in-law Jesse Hoffman, a brother Leonard Schlotzhauer, two sisters May Stuckey and Mary Loeffler.

Visitation is Friday, May 18, from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Services are Saturday, May 19, at 10:30 a.m. at the Wesley Chapel in Pilot Grove, Missouri with burial in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Eugene J. Fuemmeler, 77, of Salisbury, died May 9th, 2007 at his home. Eugene was born April 28, 1930 in Glasgow, Missouri the son of Frank and Flora (Ginter) Fuemmeler. He married Mary Athlyn Brand.

Mr. Fuemmeler was a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of Glasgow High School, Class of 1948. Eugene served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. He was a farmer and carpenter. Eugene was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Janet Gayle (Still) Jennings, 42 lifelong resident of Chariton County, died Monday, April 30, 2007 at the University Hospital in Columbia. She was born July 18, 1964 in Moberly the daughter of Ray and Velta Faye (McCart) Still.

Janet was homemaker and a member of the Salisbury First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, John Jennings of Moberly, son, Ryan Black, two daughter’s Angela Wilson and Samantha Black all of Salisbury, two grandsons, John Wilson and Nikolas Baldwin, two brothers, Steven Still of Bynumville and Mark Still of Salisbury and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, and one brother, Eddie Still, preceded her in death.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, May 3, 2007 at 11:00a.m. with visitation from 10:00 till service time at the Salisbury First Baptist Church. Private inurnment of cremains at a later time. Memorials are suggested to the Janet Still Jennings Memorial Fund.

Heidi Jeanne Strodtman, 19, of Salisbury, died April 21, 2007 due to an automobile accident. Heidi was born July 8, 1987 in Columbia, Missouri the daughter of Bruce and Debra (McCurry) Strodtman.

Heidi was a lifelong Salisbury resident. She was a graduate of Salisbury High School Class of 2006, and was currently a student at the University of Missouri at Rolla. Heidi was a member of the Auxiliary of the Rucker-McAllister American Legion Post #7 of Brunswick, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salisbury; and worked at the St. Patrick Newman Center in Rolla.

Heidi is survived by her parents Bruce and Debra Strodtman of Salisbury; two brother’s Kent Strodtman and wife Erin of Columbia, MO, Kirk Stodtman and wife Vanessa of San Diego, CA; a sister Katie Strodtman and fiancée Rick Hammond of Columbia; maternal grandmother Virginia McCurry of Brunwick, paternal grandmother Marcella Strodtman of Armstrong, MO; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Larry McCurry and paternal grandfather Kenneth Strodtman.

Clara Mae Yung, 86 of the Brunswick nursing home died there Friday, April 20, 2007. She was born may 13, 1920 in rural Salisbury the daughter of Bernard H. and Josephine H. (Schutte) Abeln.

Clara married Edward Henry Yung on September 16, 1939 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salisbury and he preceded her in death on feb. 24, 1983. She later married Charlie Hanke and he preceded her in death on August 22, 2002.

Clara was a lifelong Chariton county resident, she was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic church in Salisbury, the Washington Workers club. One of her first jobs was for a family that took her to New York and to the world’s fair. Clara also worked as a machine operator for the Biltwell Clothing Factory in Salisbury for 20 years retiring in 1980.

Mrs. Yung is survived by two sons, Junior Lee and Carol Yung of Brunswick, Donald and Vickie Yung of Armstrong, five daughters, Carol Sue Farrell-Overstreet of Fayette, Jane Ann and John Covell of Sunrise Beach. Mo; Barbara Jean and Mike Kincaid of Gravois Mills, Mo; Clara “Sugar” and Mike Fox of Salisbury and Loretta “Puddy” Call of Salisbury. One brother, Eugene Abeln of Salisbury, two sisters, Helen Taylor of Missouri and Margaret Wagner of Texas. 21 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 10 great, great grandchildren and numerous neices and nephews. Her parents, husbands, one son, Tom Yung, two brothers, Bennie and Herman, three sisters, Bernadine Abeln, Lucille Emmerich, Mary Murtha and one granddaughter, Patricia Yung, preceded her in death.

Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, April 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic church in Salisbury with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation in Sunday from 6 till 8:30 p.m. with a 6:00 p.m. rosary service at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Kathryn Louise Sweeney, 83, of Brunswick died March 27, 2007 at the Brunswick Nursing Home. Kathryn was born April 3, 1923 in Porterville, California the daughter of Walter Frank and Della Mae (Coy) Nickerson. She was married to Alfred Roy Pegelow on October 15, 1938. Later she married Robert L. Sweeeney on July 11, 1958 in Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on August 17, 1977.

Kathryn was a longtime area resident. She was a homemaker, worked for the Biltwell Factory, Candy Factory, Banquet Food, and was a nurse’s aid at the nursing home and hospital. Kathryn was a member of the Keytesville Baptist church.

Kathryn is survived by two son’s William Roy Pegelow and wife Jane of Keytesville; Kenneth Eugene Pegelow and wife Susie of Keytesville; two daughter’s Jean Evelyn Hershey and husband Bobby of Keytesville; Patricia Carleen McAdams and companion Bob McAdams of Clifton Hill; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brother’s Walter “Frankie” Nickerson, Charles Edward Nickerson, and William Hershel Nickerson; four half brother’s Roy Saulter, Jim Lee Saulter, Lloyd “Sonny” Saulter, Woodrow Saulter; two half sister’s Nancy Schaeffer and Mary Etta Taylor; a grandson and a great grandson.

Marvin Eldon Thomas, 78 of Salisbury died March 27, 2007 at his home. Marvin was born May 27, 1928 in rural Prairie Hill, Missouri the son of Ivan Earl and Jewell Racine (Bills) Thomas. He married Kathryn (Hulett) Wright and five children were born to this union. Marvin married Kay Kesler on June 25, 1999 at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Bynumville.

Marvin was a lifelong area resident. He serviced in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, receiving a purple heart. Marvin was a farmer, truck driver and maintence custodian for Associated Electric for 15 years. He was a member of the Prairie Hill Christian Church, Moberly Moose Lodge, Salisbury Community Betterment, and volunteered at the Salisbury Senior Center.

Jessie Lee Homman, 89, of Brunswick, MO died March 22, 2007 at the Moberly Regional Medical Center. Jessie was born July 30, 1917 in Dalton, Missouri the daughter of Pete and Emma (Schulte) Coleman. She married Stanley J. Homman in 1972, and he preceded her in death on August 19, 1980.

Mrs. Homman was a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of the Dalton High School class of 1935. Jessie was a telephone operator in Dalton for many years, clerk at the Dalton Grocery Store, as well as the post mistress at the Dalton Post office from 1947 to 1952, and she retired in 1980. In 1981 she moved to the Keytesville housing and lived there until 2006 moving to the Brunswick Nursing home. Jessie was a member of the Dalton Immanuel United Methodist Church, Dalton Home Builder’s Club, Dalton Immanuel UMC Sunshine Club, one of the original board members of the Dalton Community Center, and she loved the St. Louis Cardinal’s baseball team.

Mrs. Homman is survived by her sister Sallie Newsom and husband Donald of Dalton; a nephew Lowell Newsom of St. Louis; and great nephew Matthew Newsom of Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Visitation is 6-8:00 p.m., Sunday, March 25th at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Funeral services are Monday, March 26th at 10:00 a.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury with burial in Dalton Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Dalton Immanuel United Methodist Church or to the Dalton Cemetery.

Wayne Ellis Benner, 80, of Armstrong died March 19, 2007 at his home. Wayne was born January 2, 1927 in Fickland, Illinois the son of Albert and Mamie (Roderick) Benner. On July 15, 1950 he married Harriett June Huff in Cerro Gordo, Ill.

Wayne had lived in Armstrong since 1965, having lived in Hallsville from 1958-65. He was a farmer and worked at a quarry near Harrisburg. He was a member of the Cartwright Methodist Church in Illinois and the Salisbury United Methodist Church. Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, bowling and square dancing.

Wayne is survived by his wife Harriett of the home, two son’s Alan Wayne Benner and wife Linda of Salisbury; Gary Albert Benner and wife Susie of Salisbury; a daughter Carolyn Diane Weber and husband Bill of Armstrong; two sister’s Nancy Black of Lovington, Ill., Ruth Williams of Atwood, Ill.; ten grandchildren Reggie, Chad, Shane, Derek, Priya, Heather, Dean, Travis, Jessica, Jennifer; two step grandchildren Tara and Sonya; two great grandchildren Leah and Kaylan Hinkle. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother; and a sister Alberta Fombelle.

Visitation is 10-11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 22, with services following at 11:00 a.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Burial in Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Salisbury. Memorial’s may be made to the American Cancer Society or for the Traumatic Brain Injuries Association.

Glenda Ellen Sutton, 69 of Keytesville died Thursday, March 15, 2007 at her home. She was born February 4, 1938 in Kirksville, Missouri the daughter of Glenn and Anna Lucile (Heiman) Burch.

Glenda was graduate of Kirksville High School Class of 1956, following graduation she attended and worked at the Kirksville Osteopathic Hospital for two years.

She married Harold Sutton on March 17, 1956 in Kirksville, in 1968 they moved to Keytesville, Mo. where they resided until 1978 when they moved to Kansas City and then back to Keytesville in 1999.

Glenda was a faithful member and organist of the Keytesville United Methodist Church; she worked as a Desktop Publisher for Foley-Belsaw Co. in Kansas City from 1978 to 1999.

Mrs. Sutton is survived by her husband of the home, one son and daughter-in-law; Tim and Yvonne Sutton of Kansas City, Mo; one daughter and son-in-law; Barbara and Dave Imgarten of Salisbury, five grandchildren, one sister, Becky Forbes of Columbia, two nieces, one step sister, Jane Jackson, and one step niece, and special friend Milady Brian and son Matthew. Her parents, a grandson, Schuyler Sutton and a brother-in-law, Kenny Forbes, preceded her in death.

A memorial funeral service will be held Monday, March 19, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at the Keytesville United Methodist Church with visitation from Noon till service time. Memorials are suggested to the church or Howard County Hospice.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury.

Nancy I. Bowen, 81, of Salisbury, Missouri died March 12, 2007 at Brunswick Nursing Home. Nancy was born May 2, 1925 in rural Keytesville, Missouri the daughter of Luther Louis and Nancy Margaret (Shoemaker) Woolridge. On July 6, 1945, Nancy married Everette Weiseman in Salisbury, MO, and he preceded her in death on April 16, 1946. Nancy later married James W. Bowen on March 15, 1953 in Harrison, Arkansas, and he preceded her in death on March 22, 1994.

Mrs. Bowen was a lifelong area resident. Nancy graduated from Keytesville High School class of 1943. She was a homemaker, worked as a clerk for Hawkins Grocery Store and was a babysitter for all her grandchildren. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Salisbury.

Nancy is survived by three daughters Shirley Day and husband Raymond of Glasgow, MO; Susan Baxley and husband Larry of Salisbury; Sally Bowen of Moberly, MO; a sister Anna Calvert and husband Gerald J. of Keytesville; six grandchildren Larry Day, Brenda Uthlaut, Mindy Day, Nicole Winkler, Lindsay Baxley; step grandson Trevan Baxley; four great grandchildren Joshua Day, Tevin Uthlaut, Lexie Uthlaut, Andrew Day, and a step great granddaughter Miriar Baxley; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parent’s, husband’s, a daughter Margaret Delores Bowen on May 6, 1957, three brother’s Alfred, George, and James Woolridge.

Visitation is 6-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 14th at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Graveside services are 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 15th at the Salisbury City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brunswick Nursing Home or to the Dulaney Library.

Edgar Linneman, 87, of Salisbury died February 26, 2007 at Moberly Regional Medical Center. Edgar was born October 11, 1919 in Forest Green, Missouri the son of Arnold and Augusta (Leutung) Linneman. On January 20, 1948 he married Anna Mae Aholt at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glasgow, and she preceded him in death on November 14, 1998.

Mr. Linneman was a flight officer in the U.S. Army Air Corp, during WWII. He was a mechanic for 33 years, first working at the Glasgow Co-op and then with J.F. Roling and Son’s, retiring in 1984. Mr. Linneman was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salisbury; former member of the Forest Green Band, Roanoke Band, and the Buckle’s & Bow’s Square Dance Club.

Mr. Linneman is survived by three daughter’s Edith VanBooven and husband Norman of Salisbury; Ellen Malisos and husband Mike of Kansas City, MO; Judy Linneman, PhD of College Station, TX; two sister’s Isabelle Gessling of Forest Green, MO, Agatha Grissom of Columbia, MO; eight grandchildren Scott Malisos, Jean VanBooven-Shook, Rodney Malisos, Kenneth VanBooven, Daniel Saenz, Joseph Saenz, Jesse Saenz ; ten great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Anna Mae, two infant sister’s Inez and Agnes, and one grandson Alan VanBooven.

Visitation is 5-8:00 p.m., with Rosary at 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 2nd, at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Mass of Christian Burial is Saturday, March 3rd at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Foundation for Fighting Blindness.

Edna Louvena Maria Rice, 93 of Salisbury died February 23, 2007 at Chariton Park Health Care center in Salisbury. Edna was born near Forest Green, MO the daughter of Fred and Meta (Imgarten) Weiseman on February 25, 1913.

She was baptized at the Salem Lutheran Church, Forest Green, on March 10, 1913. Edna later reaffirmed her baptismal vows when she was confirmed in her faith on March 28, 1926 at the same church. She loved to attend her Church and was a faithful member all her life.

Edna married Marvin A. Rice on January 24, 1932 at Salem Lutheran Church. Their marriage was blessed with one son, John David Rice. She was an active farmwife, enjoyed gardening and raising flowers. She enjoyed her family and was a loving mother and grandmother.

Edna was a lifelong area resident and member of the Salem Lutheran church. She was a Sunday school teacher, member of the LWWL, the Shannondale Extension Club and loved to play cards a lifelong hobby of hers. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends.

Edna is survived by her son John and wife Louise, of Salisbury; two sisters Sylvia Friesz of Keytesville, Bernice Yarberry of Kansas City, MO; a brother Harvey Weiseman of Columbia, MO; three grandchildren Robert A. and Catherine Rice of Cifton Hill, Susan and Rodney Ponder of Salisbury, and Sherry and Gary Wright of Salisbury; six great grandchildren, Lisa and Ned Nugent, Mitch and Andrea Rice, Matt and Deva Ponder, Sara and Glen McSparren, Stacey and Jake Aumock, Mike Wright and Kim; eight great great grandchildren, Liam, Colin, and Suzanne Nugent, Jake and Briana Ponder, Trinity McSparren, Kaitlyn Aumock and Brooke Wright. When the great grandchildren cam along they named Grandpa Marvin, Grandpa Pipe because he smoked a pipe all the time, and Edna became Grandma Pipe, a loving name to help them keep track of the grandparents.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin on August 15, 1985, two sisters, Lela Spellman and Nettie Friesz.

Visitation is 10-11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 27th, at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury, with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. Burial in Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Salisbury. Memorials may be made to the Salem Lutheran Cemetery.

Harry Dean Wright, 85, of Brunswick, formerly Moberly and Keytesville, died February 24, 2007 at the Brunswick Nursing Home. Harry was born August 18, 1921 in Corder, Missouri the son of Dean and Lorraine Burnetta (Coleman) Wright. He married Doris E. Burton and she preceded his in death and he married Josie Ella (Bivens) Neidholdt on February 20, 1993 and preceded him in death on May 7, 2000.

Harry was a graduate of Higginsville High School. He was a barber for 47 years, in both Moberly and Keytesville. Harry was a member of the Corder United Methodist Church, Moberly American Legion Bazan Bailey Post #6, Life member of the Moberly VFW Post, and very active in the Moberly Moose Lodge.

Harry is survived by step-son’s Vernon, Dennis and Jerry Niedholdt all of Keytesville, MO; three step-daughter’s Cheryl Young of Keytesville, Carolyn Rice of Centralia, and Jeannie Bradley of Moberly; two sister’s Charlene Brown of Higginsville, and Marge Petty of the Oregon; 13 step grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren,nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wives, parents, a sister June Marcus, two brother’s Richard Gale and Morris Duane Wright.

Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 26th at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Services are 10:00 a.m, Monday , February 27th at the Summerville Funeral Home with burial in Oakland Cemetery in Moberly, with Military graveside services by the Moberly American Legion Bazan Bailey Post #6. Memorials may be made to the organization of the Donor’s choice.

Kathryn Elizabeth Widmer, 92 of Salisbury, died Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at Moberly Regional Medical Center. She was born June 15, 1914 in rural Salisbury the daughter of Louis and Teresa (Richstatter) Abeln. Kathryn was raised in Shawnee, Oklahoma where she lived until 1930 when she returned to the Salisbury area.

Kathryn married Albert Widmer on February 3, 1937 and he preceded her in death on March 13, 1991, also preceding her in death was her parents, son Kenneth Widmer, Feb. 10, 2002, a grandson, Curtis McFadden, four sisters, Mayme Spring and three at infancy.

Mrs. Widmer was a housewife, a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salisbury, the church Alter Sodality and the Citizen Potawatomi Indian Nation.

Survivors include two sons and two daughters-in-law; Wayne and Therese Widmer of Columbia, Dale and Dana Widmer of Salisbury, four daughters and two sons-in-law; Wanda and Hank Thies of Glasgow, Karen and Norman McFadden of Salisbury, Donna J. Widmer of Columbia and Linda L. Flaspohler of Moberly, sister-in-law, Agnella Widmer, Phoenix, AZ, Sisters, Anna Mae Comadoll, LovePark, IL and Lois McGee, Garden City, MO, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salisbury with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 5 till 8:00p.m. with 7:30p.m. rosary service at Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Memorials are suggested to the church or cemetery fund.
